Air Conditioning Mission Beach
Salt and cyclone exposure together, on properties that often sit empty between guests.
Two hard conditions at once
Most places in this region have one dominant problem. Mission Beach has both of the serious ones together: direct salt exposure off the water and full cyclonic wind loading on an exposed coastline.
Salt is the slow one. A condenser within reach of onshore wind gets a continuous deposit on the coil, and the copper tube against aluminium fin arrangement corrodes galvanically until the fins lose their grip on the tube. Heat transfer depends entirely on that contact, so the machine quietly gets worse at its job while continuing to run. Coil coatings help and are worth specifying here, but the chassis, the base pan, the fan mounts, the guard and every fastener are steel, and a coating on the coil does nothing for those. On genuinely exposed sites the conversation is about full marine grade treatment of the whole unit rather than the coil alone.
Wind is the fast one. Mission Beach has taken direct hits and the mounting standard has to reflect that. Fixings reaching real structure, corrosion rated fasteners, and a bracket or stand rated with wind load applied rather than just the mass of the unit. An unrestrained condenser in a serious event is a projectile, and that is a problem for the property next door as much as for yours.
Holiday lets and the empty house problem
A large share of the housing here is let short term or used seasonally, and that changes what a good installation looks like.
A system in a holiday let has to work on arrival, with no one available to nurse it. That argues for simplicity and reliability over feature count, for controllers a guest can understand without a manual, and for filters that a cleaner can actually get to and wash between bookings. It also argues for servicing on a schedule rather than on complaint, because the first person to notice a fault is a paying guest and by then it is already a problem.
Empty periods matter too. A closed house in this climate with no air movement for weeks grows mould in the indoor unit far faster than an occupied one. Where the system supports it, leaving a fan or dry cycle running periodically is cheaper than the clean it prevents.
What we specify here
Coil coating chosen against the actual distance from the water and the aspect, not against a blanket rule. Condenser siting on the sheltered side wherever the airflow allows it, because the same unit out of the prevailing salt has a materially easier life. Corrosion rated fixings throughout. And a rinse regime you or your cleaner can realistically keep up, since fresh water on the fins every few months does more good than most of what gets sold as protection.

Tell us how close to the water you are, which way the unit would face, and whether the property is let or lived in. That changes the specification more than the floor area does. Call 0489 266 523 and we will put the coating, the siting and the mounting in writing with the rest of the quote.
