Air Conditioning Tully
Rainfall and humidity at the extreme end, on blocks where the supply run is often the real constraint.
Humidity at the top of the national range
Tully trades the wettest-town title back and forth with Babinda, and the practical consequence is the same. For most of the year the machine’s real job is moisture removal, and the sizing decision has to be made on that basis rather than on a watts per square metre rule off a calculator.
Oversizing is the mistake that gets made here most often and it is the one that cannot be corrected afterwards. A unit with too much capacity reaches the set temperature quickly, shuts down, and never runs long enough for water to condense properly on the coil and drain away. The reading says twenty four degrees and the room still feels like a wet towel. A correctly sized inverter system running long at low output is dehumidifying the entire time it runs, and that is what comfort actually depends on in this part of the world.
The same conditions make drainage a first order concern. Condensate volumes are high and sustained, so drain falls, drain routing and a flow test at commissioning are not optional detail here.
Rural blocks change the electrical conversation
A lot of Tully properties are on acreage, and that shifts where the difficulty sits. It is often not the air conditioner. It is the distance between the switchboard and where the equipment needs to go.
Long circuit runs mean cable sizing has to account for voltage drop rather than current alone, and on an older property with a shed, a pump, a hot water system and now air conditioning, maximum demand can push past what the consumer mains were ever rated to carry. That is knowable before anyone commits, and it should be, because finding out on install day is how a job turns into two jobs.
Where a system is going into a shed, a granny flat or a detached workshop, we look at the supply to that structure specifically rather than assuming the main board tells the whole story.
Corrosion, organic load and service intervals
Tully is not beachfront, so raw salt exposure is lower than Mission Beach. What it has instead is near constant wetness and heavy organic load in the air from cane and rainforest. Steel components stay damp, and indoor coils and blower wheels grow biological material quickly.
That puts servicing intervals at the shorter end. A proper clean, a drain flush and a pressure check on a sensible cycle will do more for the life of a system here than a step up in equipment tier will.
